When I was a curious child, I consumed the corporate news. Years later, as a jaded man, I only watch classic cartoons. Bugs Bunny never told me, What to think or how to feel. Popeye never broadcasted lies, Nor was the truth concealed. I’ve felt my share of doom and gloom, I have witnessed the obscene, So mongers of fear and sowers of hate, Are unwelcome on my screen. The newsman feeds a market of terror, In which the masses are terrorized, By false narratives not based upon fact, Wherein statistics are politicized. Modern media manipulates masses, Dividing diabolically with power and repute. The pen-wielding producer owns the outcome of fate, Outreach is easy, skill is minute. If you are audacious enough to object, “That is fiction!” they’ll contend. The newsman exploits identities, Like a bark spider weaving a web. The media portrays what is real in the world, Through a deceitful lens that is fake. In the end, the news is more fake than cartoons, Yet the anchor still carries his weight. “Breaking news!” is declared by the terrorist-on-air, Before each slanted notion is spoke. Common people are “blinded” by ignorance and hate, So the newsman postures as “woke”. All the world’s a stage and we the people are actors, By the newsman, the script has been wrote. In the history of terror, no director in the news, Has ever proclaimed: “th-th-that’s all folks!”
