The rain pours down like a tidal wave, with a loud *thud* they fall in unison. Like a marching band they drop in order, never changing pace or stepping out of order.
Looking out the diner window she watches the people cross the streets, counting every car that's passed on by. Looking one last time out the window she looks back at her hot chocolate and thinks for a while.
I wonder if it'll be like this all year?. It's been quite a while since I've seen some sunlight. Sipping her hot chocolate she let's out a *sigh* of satisfaction. With a moustache of whip cream on her face she licks it all up, with a smile on her face. Nothing beats an old fashioned hot coco with caramel creamer; with whip cream an a muffin on the side she thought.
Smiling to her self she pulls out a book, 'The history of Jamestown'. She was a history nerd an loved to know more about the places she'd visit. Opening up the book she glances with a curious eye, flipping through from the first picture till the last. Looking for the first known pictures of this place, she puts her finger on the index....147,148, ah ha...found it...pg152.
She flips through the pages until she reaches her destination, looking at the place back then it's nothing like it is today she thought. Caressing her finger over the image she tried to imagine what it was like to live the way they did.
She imagined all the folklore and campfire storys, the men hard at work building the cabin's and the women cooking the food. The children running around and playing in the woods, she pulls out a picture of what it's like now an lets out a sorrowful sigh.
This wasn't how they originally attended for it to be, from a blood soaked civil war, to a beaten down place through the great depression. Now it's all modernized with all these immoral protest, an 'social issues'. She closed the book with a look of sadness. She looks at the bill and hands the waitress a 20$ tip, she leaves the dinner and drives away.......(this is a short story I made, this isn't based on actual events and shouldn't been seen as such.)
