Suffocating The air around me feels so tight A weight upon my chest I gasp and struggle for a breath But can't escape this unrest The walls seem to be closing in And the ceiling's falling down I'm trapped and helpless in this space With no escape to be found The people that surround me here They are the cause of my pain Their words and actions pierce my heart And drive me almost insane I long to break free from this hold And start anew once more But the fear of the unknown void Keeps me bound to the floor But then a glimmer of light shines through And whispers to my soul That healing comes from deep within And I can take control I start to breathe in deep and slow And focus on the good The strength within me starts to grow And I stand as I should I find my voice and use it loud To speak up for myself The negativity around me Slowly starts to melt My mind and heart are now at peace And I can breathe once more The air is light and crystal clear And I'm no longer sore The power lies within oneself To break free from the chains To face the struggles head on And release the pains The asphyxiating feeling gone And in its place, relief For I have found the strength within To heal and find belief.
