Just a Girl Crush?

Running away from the idea that you might just gave caught feelings for the same gender instead of labelling it as a passing 'girl crush' is a classic heteronormative narrative we, as females, have learned over the ages. Why shun the idea that we're not just fascinated by the object of our affections' specific traits but might just be wishing to ask her on a date?

The problem

We all want to use our time efficiently and productively, especially while at work. And yet, studies have shown that 77% of employees use social media while on the clock, many of them for up to several hours a day.

Take a few minutes to watch the videos and then the next thing you know, an hour has gone by. You’ve been sucked down the rabbit hole, watching video after video, while that big report sits, neglected, on your desk.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.

What Everyone Can Do to Promote Racial Equity
  1. Control your behavior and seek out repetitive contact with or substantive exposure to out-group members.
  2. Be mindful of societal-level power differences without perpetuating them yourself.
  3. Be respectful.
  4. Leaders should devote considerable effort and attention to creating the right conditions for optimal intergroup contact.
  5. Practice simple empathetic mental exercises like putting yourself in someone else's shoes and thinking about what life is from their perspective.
  6. People must be given the chance or opportunity to do better.

Without even knowing

there are eyes on every face
so why do yours
make my heart race
why does your smile
light up my day
and then take all my pain away
what's more
why have those eyes I prize
never once looked into mine
every day I talk to you
but still you haven't got a clue
just how much love I feel for you

I want to do what you do for me
to share your pleasures and your pain
and wipe away your wounds with ease
I want to feel your tender touch
and hear your whispers in the dark
that turn all of my fears to dust

all alone here
lying in bed
thoughts of you pop in my head
fantasies of love so true
but I'll never get
what I want from you
realization tears me apart
tears slip down my cheeks
without even knowing, you broke my heart

Children as objects

It took thousands of years for the European culture to realise that a child is not an object but a human being.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote in Emile, or On Education (1762), that "nature wants children to be children before they are men." He did not see children as humans but appealed to parents to look after their offspring. However, he did not take his own ideas to heart and abandoned his offspring at birth.
