The danger of the Internet and social media

Social media exposes younger users to content that is worse than on TV. The Internet and social media have an overabundance of information that is not child friendly, such as adult content or breaking news.

Research found that although 95% of parents talked to their children about social media safety,

• almost 50% did not discuss topics like bot recognition, privacy, fake accounts and the differences between real and online life.
• 52% of parents did not speak to their children about issues like cyberbullying. 
• 20% of parents caught their child posting to a fake Instagram (finsta) account.

Recuperation: the process by which subcultural ideas and images become commodified and reincorporated into mainstream society

Today, recuperation is achieved through micro-aesthetics, memes, and online communities they stem from

Unlike the radical subcultures of yore, which had their own visual schema, language, and aesthetics, these digital scenes aren’t exactly subcultural.

They often promote a sort of political weakening.

Who are the king and queen in Bridgerton?

The king and queen at the time Bridgerton is set are King George III and Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. However, George III is not the ruling monarch; his son is ruling Great Britain and Ireland as Prince Regent.

Prince Regent is not shown on-screen; Bridgerton instead chooses to place his mother, Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuvel), at the centre of the drama.

At Queen Charlotte’s court, protocol was everything. This sense of protocol is crucial in Bridgerton, as we see the queen dictate many of the rules of this society.

The Epics Aka

The two great epics of our country are essential to us because they illustrate the subordination of 2 human pursuits, i.e. artha and kāma to dharma.
